Household molds are one of the most common causes of allergic reactions
in the home, especially in humid climates and seasons. Even
if you don't have an allergy, mold can irritate your respiratory system.
Mold can easily be eliminated with tea tree oil and vinegar.
Mold
(and mildew, which is a whitish powdery form of mold) is a fungus.
Like nearly all fungi, mold grows in damp, dark places: kitchen
sinks, bathtubs, leaky pipes, underneath refrigerators, in basements
and carpets. In most cases mold is more of an annoyance than
a serious health issue.
The primary strategy for preventing mold
is to monitor moisture. Fix leaks immediately. Wipe up
spills. Don't let water escape from the shower. Use a
dehumidifer if necessary, especially in a damp basement. Mold
dislikes light, especially ultraviolet light.
Check your refrigerator
drip tray at least two or three times a year. After you have
cleaned the pan, sprinkle and leave 1/2 cup of Borax in the pan.
Run
your food disposal once a day and pour 3 to 5 cupos of vinegar down
the drain at least once a week. Vinegar kills almost 82% of
molds, as well as 99% of bacteria, and 80% of viruses.
Food is
the main source of toxic molds, so throw it away before it becomes
moldy. Empty compost every day.
In the bathrooom,
the grout between your bathroom tiles can become black or gray.
A spray can be used to remove this. Tea Tree Oil Spray will
stop mold, that can grow high up on walls or ceilings, but you must
wipe it down afterwards.
You may want to consider an exhaust
fan in your bathroom to remove mold-causing humidity. Exhaust
the fan all the way to the outdoors. Bathroom towels and rugs
should be changed frequently to avoid moisture buildup.
